"In the same way you are to think of yourself as dead, so far as sin is
concerned, but living in fellowship with God through Christ Jesus"
(Romans 6:11)

As Christians we are expected to live a joyful life all the time and to reflect the Kingdom of God wherever we go.

But due to ignorance or some kind of misconception of the scriptures, many of us have remained in total misery, giving the oposite image of what is expected of us!

We feel that we are guilty and God will, or is punishing us thus living in the way we live! When I read the scripturures in Romans 6:1-14, I realise that this problem is not new among Christians but it is the very problem which we have lived with since the death of our Lord Jesus. In fact, Paul (The man whom Jesus personally taught the kingdom of God after realising that the so called Christians have failed to understand his mission), wrote to the Romans trying to address the same issue.

According to Paul, one should stop seeing himself as a sinner -Sinner basing on the Mosaic laws, but look at himself as one in fellowship with God. We recall that Jesus also faced the same challenge and this forced him to reduce these laws to only two.

I will base my teaching today on these two laws as brought down by Jesus -Love your God and Love your Neigbour.

We realise that much as many claim to be Christians, they are still bound in the bondage of Sin. They are still guilty of sin and this has greatly affected their relationship with God. Otherwise how could one be friends with someone he feel will be inflicting a punishment on him the next day or any time he meets him?

The Bible teaches that God wishes man to live a perfect life. It goes further to promise that whoever will follow Jesus shall have everlasting life. Paul teaches in the above quoted verse that on believing Jesus we accepted to die together with Jesus. So because Jesus overcame death, we believe that we also live with him. So in living with him sin has no power on him. Paul emphasises that sin must not rule our life but we should surrender our mortal beings to be used for a rightuous purpose.

In order to overcome sin we should always do the following;

1. Believe that we are children of God.
2. believe that God wills us to live a perfect life.
3. That sin has no power in our lives since we live in fellowship with God.
4. That we have the holy Spirit who guides us in everything we do.
5. That every choice we make in our life determines what our life will be.
6. That when we look at ourselves as sinners, we just make ourselves away from God.
7. We should always listen to the small still voice in our hearts before we do anything. It carries a strong massage from God.
8. In everything we do, we should always seek to establish what our relationship with God and our fellow Human being will be after we have done such an act.

We should also know that our God is a Spirit. This is very important. Our God is a Spirit watching every step we take and he talks to us on what we should do or not do.

The true life of Christian should be characterised with peace, Love, faith and Hope. But we should not that the most important of these is love. There is no way we can earn this life when we don't love.

Our Lord Jesus tried to teach us this thoughout his mission. He even went a step further to heal the ear of the man who had come to kill him! (I will tackle this topic next time).

It is now your turn to act. You either believe that you are in fellowship with Jesus, and be happy or remain in misery! In either way, the choice is yours!

I believe God has blessed you but you are still bound in sin that is why you even don't have faith! That is why you can't even love yourself -beucase you are guilty!

free yourself and you will discover the life in Jesus!
